

Led by their respective RECCs, the working groups are charged with advancing interoperable communications in the region and developing an annual report,, which accounts for the status of operable and interoperable emergency communication initiatives in the region. Each RECCWG is composed of state, local, and tribal members, NGOs, volunteers, private industry, and federal partners. By understanding the modes of communication being leveraged by states, territories, municipalities, and tribal nations within the region, FEMA can better support them during disasters.Īdditionally, we support the 10 Regional Emergency Communications Coordination Working Groups (RECCWG). For example, each region has a Regional Emergency Communication Plan (RECP), which outlines its operational capabilities. We support the RECCs’ unique regional programs as they work to enhance interoperable communications within their states and cross-regionally. As I started to interact more with state agencies and FEMA in several regions, I found that to be very fulfilling work. The work was initially more technical, which fit my background as a designer of in-building cellular systems.
